“Guerriers de l’hiver” by David Dossett
Do you remember those towering snowbanks in the schoolyard after a big snowfall? When the plows pushed all the snow into one massive mound, it became an instant battlefield—every kid scrambling to the top, determined to be “King of the Castle.” And of course, the triumphant ruler would shout, “I’m the king of the castle, you’re the dirty rascal!” before inevitably being dethroned.
My latest painting, “Guerriers de l’hiver” (10” x 20”, acrylic on gallery-wrapped canvas), captures that childhood thrill—the climb, the triumph, the inevitable tumble. It’s a tribute to the resilience we learned as kids, playing in the snow, getting knocked down, and always getting back up.
Canadians are known for being nice, but let’s be honest—when the game was on, the gloves came off!
